SKMC-1250 large profile Gear Grinding machine
In the world of manufacturing, gears are often regarded as the"joints and backbone"of industrial machinery. Their precision directly impacts the performance, efficiency, and service life of mechanical systems. At the heart of gear finishing operations stands the CNC gear grinding machine-a critical piece of equipment for achieving high-precision gear production.
This week, our team visited one of our manufacturing partners to complete a dedicated filming project featuring the SKMC-1250/08 CNC Profile Gear Grinding Machine. More than just a filming session, it was an opportunity to witness the capabilities of China's high end machine tool industry firsthand.

Despite a tight schedule and demanding requirements, the entire process exceeded our expectations. Careful planning and excellent cooperation from the manufacturer ensured everything was ready before our arrival. The machine had been thoroughly cleaned, workpieces were prepared, and technical staff were on hand to support the filming process. Throughout the shoot, experienced engineers worked closely with our team, repeatedly adjusting machine settings to capture the best possible footage and technical details. Their professionalism made the entire project smooth and highly efficient.
The star of the shoot, the SKMC-1250/08 CNC Profile Gear Grinding Machine, is a heavy duty precision grinding solution designed for external spur and helical cylindrical gears. Equipped with an optional internal grinding attachment, it can also process internal spur gears. The machine covers a module range of 2-25 and supports gear diameters up to 1,250 mm, making it suitable for large-scale gear manufacturing applications.

In terms of accuracy, the machine delivers outstanding performance. Internal gears can achieve GB Grade 6 accuracy, while external spur and helical gears up to 800 mm in diameter can reach GB Grade 5 or Grade 5-6 standards. Even for gears exceeding 800 mm in diameter, the machine maintains stable GB Grade 5-6 precision. This combination of accuracy, rigidity, and reliability makes it an ideal choice for industries such as construction machinery, forging and press equipment, wind power, and port machinery.
One of the highlights during filming was the Renishaw high-precision probing system installed on the machine. Acting as the machine's"intelligent eye," the probe automatically aligns the gear tooth spaces before grinding, identifies the optimal grinding position, and distributes stock removal evenly across both tooth flanks. During machining, it performs in-process measurement and inspection of tooth profile, lead, and pitch accuracy, helping ensure consistently high-quality results.

The machine is also equipped with the Siemens SINUMERIK CNC control system, providing powerful computational capability, flexible configuration options, and good process control to meet a wide range of customer requirements.
Beyond the grinding machine itself, we also had the opportunity to observe another impressive operation on the shop floor - a gear hobbing machine cutting a massive worm gear. As the cutting tool gradually shaped the workpiece, the scale and complexity of heavy-duty gear manufacturing became truly evident. According to the engineers on site, these large worm gears are commonly used in wind energy and mining equipment, where both material strength and machining precision are critical.

From high precision gear grinding to heavy duty gear cutting, this visit offered a valuable glimpse into the technologies that drive modern gear manufacturing. As a professional supplier of large gear machining equipment, we understand that every advanced machine tool represents years of engineering expertise and a relentless pursuit of precision.
