Precision Induction Hardening of Armature Shafts on a MIND 750 Hardening System
Precision Induction Hardening of Armature Shafts
The machine is loaded using a portal from GEEPRO Automation that picks up components from the workpiece carrier pallet and loads the MIND 750 hardening system fitted with an additional annealing module. A rotary indexing table is installed in the machining area to allow the armature shaft to be machined simultaneously during the cycle time.
After loading, the surface layer hardening process takes place in the form of progressive hardening at the second table position. This is followed by annealing the shaft – a process which can be integrated if required. The final cooling and drying processes at the fourth position of the rotary indexing table ends the overall process before the shaft is returned to the first position for unloading. Surface layer hardening of the armature shaft is carried out on a nearly fully automated hardening system to allow for low manpower production.
